Student Leaders

Student Leaders is a program for students who show exemplary use of the Respect, Organization, Attitude, and Responsibility. Student Leaders is a service based group. We sponsor activities like the food drive and Red Ribbon Week. Student Leaders is also engaged with their neighbors delivering May baskets, pumpkins and other tokens of good will.

First Friends

Two students from each class that learn how to make introductions and to be extra friendly to new students to help them learn their way around and behavior expectations. Mr. Thompson will be working with these children  in a week or so to make a video to show to new students about our behavioral expectations.

ROARing workers

Students have "jobs" at school that are important like helping to serve breakfast; using a timer on the playground for kindergarten in order to promote fair sharing on the tire swing; trash pick-up; office helpers deliver end of day messages; organizing the lost and found; etc.  We have about 50-60 students that have a daily job.

ROAR assemblies

Monthly. Each 3rd grade class takes a turn at performing skits for the student body on each of the ROAR traits.  We are learning sign language for the definitions of each of the ROAR words.  Drawings are held by grade level to give away prizes for several students that have exhibited ROAR traits for the month.  About 100 prizes are given per assembly.

Peace Keepers

Third grade students trained to be peer mediators to help solve conflicts on the playground and in the classroom.

Perfect attendance recess

This reward is granted monthly for students that have had perfect attendance all month.

Buddies

Adult mentors for children that need a little extra connection to help them feel important and special at school.

Guidance

Guidance is a developmental, skill based class. Each classroom meets with the guidance counselor once a week to practice and develop skills in the areas of conflict resolution, dealing with bullies and harassment, cooperation, assertiveness, peer pressure, taking turns, study skills, test taking skills, etc... This class uses differentiated instruction by providing each class with activities for the auditory, the visual and the kinesthetic learner as well as offering a variety of learning experiences to appeal to a wide variety of multiple intelligences.
